Just recently I had the pleasure of visiting what can only be described as ‘a hidden gem’ of a wedding and event venue amidst the glorious Buckinghamshire countryside. Hampden House provides a real country retreat, yet is only a mere 40 minutes drive from London, located near the market town of Great Missenden. If you’re after a totally Exclusive Venue, steeped in history with 300 acres of land and beautifully manicured lawns, then look no further , this one is for you!

The house dates back over a 1000 years and remains a family residence. For this reason they only allow a maximum of 20 weddings a year, so you could be lucky enough to be one of the few couples to get married here. Given this you will receive a totally personal, dedicated service from the wedding team based at Hampden House.

There are vast possibilities on offer. Should you so desire you can actually fly in by helicopter and make your grand entrance by landing in their extensive grounds! Both church or civil ceremonies can be accommodated as the quaint 13th century church of  St Mary Magdalene is just a minute’s walk along the gravel driveway on the estate. A Civil Ceremony could take place in the very grand and aptly named Great Hall. The dark wooden beams and original paintings make for a very impressive setting. There is even a mezzanine level which could be the perfect place to conduct your speeches. Alternatively should you wish to have a humanist blessing, this could take place outside on their amazing lawns with the house as a backdrop to your outdoor ceremony.

The Wedding Breakfast would take place in the stunningly beautiful Georgian Room.  This elegant  room has recently been refurbished to the highest standard with sympathetic decor. Filled with natural light the neutral tones offer total flexibility for most wedding colour themes. Complete with chandeliers, ornate mirrors and an original fireplace this beautiful space can seat up to 100 for dinner on round tables.

No room turn arounds here!  A wedding planner’s dream! There is yet another space available for the evening entertainment in the Georgian Wing of the House, where the newly refurbished bar room leads onto a further spacious room where you can dance the night away!

For larger weddings it’s possible to erect a marquee on the lawns , so you will have full use of the house, lawns and option to cater for up to 250 guests. Their carefully selected cuisine partners can work closely with you to design a completely bespoke menu and enjoy a challenge if you fancy creating something a little different.

And before the tour is complete , I must mention the ladies bathrooms, which are huge and big enough to hold a party in themselves!

This venue has so much to offer so I would advise just going to see for yourself! They are hosting a wedding open morning on 6th May or alternatively you may contact a member of their Wedding Team to arrange a show round. www.hampdenweddings.com

You will be wowed and amazed!!
